WHAT IS THE MALCOLM X FUND AND HOW DOES IT HELP OUR KIDS?

The Malcolm X Fund helps pay for the important programs not covered by public school funds. Even though Berkeley schools are well-funded, there is still not enough money to cover all the expenses of a comprehensive education like the one your child receives at Malcolm X.

Our families and community generously step in to fill the gap. This year, we need to raise $200,000 to support a wide range of critical programs:

• Our drama, art, music, and dance teachers, as well as our literacy and math coaches through the support of the School Site Council (SSC)

• Classroom supplies selected by the teachers

• Special education supports

• Family engagement and grade-specific programs.

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU DONATE?

We ask that every family only give what they can. No amount is too small. For those who can, the PTA suggests a donation of $1,000 per student. If you can give a little more, consider a gift equivalent to the cost of one more month of preschool, or one more month of summer camp tuition. Whether your family can give $5 or $5,000, the most important thing is to give at a level that feels significant to you. Your gift is tax-deductible and can be matched by many employers.

WAYS TO MAKE YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION

ONLINE: The easiest and quickest way to donate! 

• Donate here online, or share this link with family and friends!    

• You can pay one time only or divide your payment into up to 8 installments. For example, to donate $500, you would pay $62.50 monthly for 8 months, and for $1,000, you would pay $125 monthly for 8 months.

CHECK OR CASH:  Write a check or donate cash and drop it off or mail it to PTA Treasurer Tyson Miklebost 

• Complete this donation form or write down your name, student(s) name(s) & classroom(s), address, phone, email, and amount donated on a blank sheet of paper.  

• Place the paper/print form along with cash or check into an envelope.

• Mail or drop off the envelope to/at the following address:
