COVID-19 Testing For Returning After Winter Break
We encourage all students to test for COVID-19 before they return to school following Winter Break. Test kits will be made available at school for your student to take home before the break. Note that most at-home tests have extensions past the expiration dates printed on the box, including the tests that BUSD uses.

Report Positive Cases Only
Student positive tests should be reported to BUSD using the BUSD Student COVID Case Reporting form. This form is also available in Spanish.
If you are unable to report your student’s positive case using the Google form, you can also report COVID-19 cases to BUSD by emailing covidcase@berkeley.net. Please include the following:
Full name
School name
Date of positive test
Date symptoms started
Last date at school
Additional information as needed
Winter Break COVID-19 Case Response Schedule
BUSD’s COVID-19 Case Response Team will be working on December 28-29 and January 3-5, as well as on Sunday, January 7 in order to provide isolation guidance and return-to-school dates for those who test positive.

T-shirt Contest Extended!
Did you think you missed your chance to be part of MX tradition? Well, good news! We've extended the deadline to submit t-shirt designs until Friday, December 22nd! Malcolm X adult family members, teachers and staff are invited to submit designs. The winning design will be printed on t-shirts and sweatshirts. The winner receives a free shirt! We will begin having listening sessions for our BUSD community in January. Please alert and encourage your families to attend one of the following listening sessions:

What is the LCAP?
A key accountability requirement of the state’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), the LCAP is a three-year plan, which every district and charter school must create and update annually with input from the community. The LCAP is intended to explain how the district will use state funds to improve educational outcomes for all students based on eight state priorities, with special attention to high-needs students for whom the district received additional money.

Pruebas COVID-19 para el Regreso Después del Descanso durante el Invierno
Exhortamos a todos los estudiantes a hacerse la prueba de COVID-19 antes de regresar a clases después del descanso durante el invierno. Los kits de prueba estarán disponibles en la escuela para que su estudiante se los lleve a casa antes del descanso. Tome en cuenta que la mayoría de las pruebas tienen impresas en las cajas extensiones más allá de las fechas de vencimiento, incluyendo las pruebas que BUSD usa.

Notifique Únicamente los Casos Positivos
Las pruebas positivas de los estudiantes deben ser reportadas a BUSD utilizando el Formulario de Notificación de Casos COVID en Estudiantes de BUSD. Este formulario también se encuentra disponible en español.
Si usted no puede informar acerca del caso positivo de su estudiante mediante el formulario de Google, usted también puede informar de los casos de COVID-19 a BUSD enviando un correo electrónico a covidcase@berkeley.net. Por favor incluya lo siguiente:
Nombre completo
Nombre de la escuela
Fecha de la prueba positiva
Fecha en la que comenzaron los síntomas
Última fecha en la escuela

Descanso durante el Invierno COVID-19 Calendario de Respuesta a Casos
El Equipo de Respuesta a Casos COVID-19 de BUSD trabajará los días 28 y 29 de diciembre y 3 y 5 de enero, así como el domingo 7 de enero, con el fin de proporcionar orientación acerca del aislamiento y las fechas de regreso a clases para aquellos que den positivo en las pruebas..

El concurso de camisetas de Malcolm X ha comenzado
Se ha extendido la fecha tope del concurso de camisetas hasta el 22 de diciembre. Todos los adultos de Malcolm X pueden entregar sus diseños al concurso (padres de familia, maestros y personal de Malcolm). El diseño ganador se imprimirá en las camisetas y sudaderas, y recibirás una camiseta gratis.
